about

"Family Fodder exude an exhilarating sense that everything was possible, that there weren't any limits to imagination and humour. The scope of their musical range remains as dizzying and exciting as it once was." (Time Out New York)

Sunday Girls is a re-release of original 12 inch vinyl from 1979 by UK underground heroes Family Fodder! It chronicles a bittersweet and entirely imaginary rivalry with NY's Blondie. "Sunday Girls (Director’s Cut)" comes as a lovingly assembled full-length album compilation. It features most of the "Sunday Girls" EP, the very first Family Fodder 7" single "Playing Golf" (1979), the "Debbie Harry“ 7" from 1980, the 7“ "Warm" (1980) and, last but not least, two tracks from the rare "Te Deum" 12“ (1979) by Alig Fodder’s side-project Frank Sumatra.

Some songs are crafted, layered pop compositions influenced by Kinks, Velvet Underground, Beatles and Syd Barrett ... with an experimental edge. Others are outsider art ... deeply amateur ... first-take improvisations. 6 different lead vocalists, 3 different drummers and contributions from the best of London's post-punk scene: This Heat, Flying Lizards, The Work, People in Control etc.

The original vinyl can be found on Fresh Records (Jungle UK) ... there is also a great CD edition from Staubgold. This digital version features a different selection of material and can be found at Sunday Girls, by Family Fodder
